Issue with watchdog

Unread postby Svarov » Wed Jul 01, 2015 5:43 pm

Hello,

I have some Odroid-U3 boards and would like to use a buit-in hardware watсhdog to increase stability, but I can't get it to work. I recompiled kernel (3.8.13.30) with the following options set in "make menuconfig":
-*- WatchDog Timer Driver Core
<M> S3C2410 Watchdog
The system (Linaro 13.09) boots fine and I see /dev/wathcdog device, but watchdog daemon doesn't work with it. The daemon starts, but if you kill it, system doesn't reset, only the "watchdog watchdog0: watchdog did not stop!" message appears in dmesg and system continues to work.

I also tried loading "s3c2410_wdt.ko" manually: "insmod s3c2410_wdt.ko debug=1 tmr_atboot=1", then I can see the message in dmesg that watchdog actually started: "s3c2410-wdt s3c2410-wdt: watchdog active, reset enabled, irq disabled", but still, system doesn't reboot automatically.

What can be the problem? I am ready to provide any additional information.

So, any thoughts on this subject?

I also tried loading the module with the following arguments: insmod s3c2410_wdt.ko debug=1 tmr_atboot=1 soft_noboot=1
After 10 seconds it causes a freeze of the system; blue led is blinking, but system is not responsive.
